I-81 Project
Workforce Data
Since 2017 when the I-81 jobs campaign began, UJTF with your help has successfully advocated for local hire (residents of of Syracuse or the Onondaga Nation) on the project to ensure that city residents, Black, Indigenous, people of color and women will have an opportunity to benefit from good-paying jobs. Because of our efforts, the New York State Department of Transportation has set a 15% local hire goal on the nearly 8 million work hours it will take to complete the project. This page has the workforce data that shows the progress on achieving the 15% goal so we can hold stakeholders accountable.
