

Executive Director
The Urban Jobs Task Force of Syracuse (UJTFS) seeks its first full-time Executive Director who will lead the organization in its mission to realize a Syracuse where all prosper through good paying jobs and meaningful careers. UJTFS is a collaboration of individuals and organizations advocating for and with disadvantaged Syracusans for equitable employment and economic opportunity.
The Executive Director directs and coordinates UJTFS advocacy and public/community outreach activities; engages collaborating agencies and UJTFS membership; achieves goals and objectives consistent with agency mission and contracts; and develops organizational activities, budget and grant management, funding applications, and reporting. Job Description
Position Title: Executive Director – Urban Jobs Task Force of Syracuse
Reports to: UJTFS Board of Directors

Job Summary

Direction and coordination of UJTFS advocacy and public/community outreach activities

Engagement with collaborating agencies and UJTFS membership

Collaboration with the Board to:

organize direction and policy development

develop organizational activities

manage budgets and grants

Duties and Responsibilities
-
Serves as liaison with funders, partner agencies and organizations, the UJTFS Board and other relevant local entities
-
Fulfills reporting requirements for existing and new grants or funding sources
-
Assists with identifying and developing fundraising opportunities
-
In collaboration with UJTFS Board, directs the development/revision of policies and procedures for UJTFS operations to achieve all goals and objectives associated with UJTFS mission and projects

In collaboration with the UJTFS Board, develop and review strategic plan

Implements strategic planning activities

Supervises the design, development and implementation of internal data collection and reporting systems for UJTFS activities and projects

Works with UJTFS membership and Board to identify potential advocacy and community organizing campaigns that align with UJTFS mission and vision
-
Creates campaign plans with measurable goals

Represents the agency and its priorities to the public as requested, including print and social media outreach and public speaking; serves on advisory or steering committees and focused working groups or coalitions

Performs other duties as assigned
Necessary Skills
-
Experience working with elected officials and other administrative stakeholders
-
Excellent public speaking, writing, and communication skills
-
Strong ability to prioritize and complete tasks, with a proven ability to meet deadlines
-
Demonstrated ability to advocate effectively, including an ability to initiate and follow through on campaign efforts
-
Self-motivation and an ability to work independently and collaboratively
-
Competency with MS Suite and related workplace software
-
Experience in utilizing print and social media for outreach, community education and general communication
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree preferred
-
Minimum two years of political, community and/or issue advocacy organizing. Coalition building experience desired.

Familiarity with the Syracuse/Onondaga County region, workforce and economic development organizations and stakeholders strongly preferred

Candidate must have access to reliable transportation
-
Commitment to the goals and mission of the UJTFS
Working Conditions

The individual is expected to be able to meet in-person with local officials and organizations as necessary

Candidate has the ability to work from home

Needed equipment and software will be provided by UJTFS
-
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds

Terms of Employment

Salary – this is a salaried full-time position of $60,000 per year. Pay periods may be bi-weekly or monthly based on the preference of the incumbent.

Benefits will include health benefits and Personal Time Off (PTO) used for sick, vacation and personal time off totaling no more than 20 days yearly. Up to five days PTO may be carried over into the next year.

Except for sick days, vacation and time off requests must be submitted to the board no less than 5 days prior to the requested time off.

Paid holidays will include all federal holidays and are in addition to above PTO.

Probationary Period – this position will have a probationary period of 6 months at the end of which time the Board and incumbent will meet to determine if the incumbent will continue in the Executive Director position.
